BAD Sydney Crime Writers Festival runs the annual Danger Awards for crime fiction, and Brunswick Street Blues made the short list in 2023, which was very exciting! Photographic evidence of the evening exists (myself with Rae Cairns, Suzanne Leal, Jo Dixon, and Dinuka McKenzie).

A reader asked me if I’d made a soundtrack for Brunswick Street Blues, and in fact I do often listen to music while I’m writing so I was inspired to take up the challenge and make a playlist for any interested readers.

Brunswick Street Blues is finally out in Australian bookshops everywhere (except possibly flood-affected regions). It’s been such a long road to publication, I can’t quite believe it.

My original plan was to win the Victorian Premier’s prize for an unpublished manuscript, leading to a flood of publication offers, and general fame and fortune. Needless to say, this didn’t happen for me (although it did work out for Jane Harper. Grrr.)
